Wells Fargo is committed to enriching the communities in which we operate in, and as part of this pledge, we are proud to continue our support for Career Ready, a social mobility charity. This charity focuses on students from schools and colleges in disadvantaged areas, giving them the skills, networks and opportunities to achieve their potential.
Established in 2002, Career Ready has been transforming over 150,000 young lives, by connecting them with employers and volunteers from the world of work. Through a range of employability activities, these young people are able to unlock their talent, develop new-found confidence, and boost their academic achievements.
Since 2019, Wells Fargo has donated $100,000 to Career Ready and these grants assisted the charity to expand its student coverage from 30,000 to 69,000 individuals.
"Making a positive contribution to the community is one of Wells Fargo's top priorities and as Career Ready compliments our core value of inclusion, we are delighted to support them in promoting educational and professional opportunities that benefit disadvantaged young people in the UK. Offering support and guidance to young people from disadvantaged areas is an initiative that's very close to my heart, so I’m thrilled to be involved from a personal perspective," said John Langley, Regional President and Head of Corporate & Investment Banking for EMEA.
In addition to providing financial support, more than 50 Wells Fargo team members currently volunteer as mentors to Career Ready's students in London. Wells Fargo has also hosted a number of workplace visits and masterclasses on essential topics that highlight the practical skills required for the world of business, such as interviewing and networking.
Gerry Dorkin, Career Ready Lead and Head of Subsidiary Coverage in Corporate Banking, EMEA said "The response from Team Members has been exceptional and is great testament to the culture of giving back that exists here at Wells Fargo in EMEA."
Tokunbo Ajasa-Oluwa, CEO of Career Ready added "The ability of Career Ready to make a difference starts with the generosity of our employer partners. We are thrilled at the support from Wells Fargo and the impact that is having on the lives of young people."
